Excluding breakfast as the hostel we're planning to go to includes it.

Please include how much it would cost to buy lunch/dinner from a grocery store.

Although the average price for eating at lunch/dinner out at a cafe or restaurant is fine.

Thank you!

  1. As much as you can possibly afford.  When in France, EAT god damnit.  Get a really good meal.  Drop a couple hundy at the Ritz...I don't care.  Max out your credit cards...EAT!

  2. It's been a few years since I've been to Nice, the food is great especially the seafood, but I do remember it being pretty expensive.  I would talk to the concierge at the hotel they usually know the good places to go.  Also, if your hotel has a bar, bartenders and cab drivers are usually the best people to ask about local flare that is less expensive.

  3. Around 25 to 30 Euros based on what I spent last year.  Grocery Store is much cheaper and a picnic in France is always welcomed.  Also, market shopping is fun place to buy fresh fruits and vegetable (honey, jams, bread, etc.).

Also, this restaurant is really turning heads although the owner is not a Provincial Native; rather he’s from Finland originally.  His grill is focused on the catch of the day (owns his own trawl).  Restaurant has terracotta walls with wooden tables and they use simple seasoning like Olive Oil, sea salt and lemon (the perfect blend of Mediterranean seasoning).

Don’t forget to speed some time on the beaches, they are lovely.  But note – the tale man from Africa who approaches you on the harbor board walk about a gold ring he found is really a pick pocket.

Also – check out the local village around Nice, they are like eye candy for the mind.  I love Villefranche-sur-mer which is about 25 minutes south of Nice (I believe the Bus Route was D6007).  This is a great place to relax, do some interesting shopping, have dinner (with great wine) overlooking the harbor.

  4. I have read lately that you can get a good 20 euro meal in a restaurant (one of the smaller, nicer restaurants) in Paris and Nice shouldn't be that different. In a bakery, you can ask them to make you a really good sandwich for probably 10. You could probably share that sandwich.

You don't tip at your discrection in restaurants in France. The tip is included in the price of the meal.
