  1. The white worm you found is an intestinal parasite. All kittens have these at birth. I know from personal experience that pet store dewormers dont work very well. They are a generalized medication and are suposed to work for several different types of worms. Thats why they dont work very well and can often require multiple treatments when one dose from a vet supplied medication will work once. When you take the kitten to the vet for its first shots they can get a stool sample (or they will ask you to bring one) to determine the type of worm the kitten has and use the correct medication. Normally this is a thick liquid given once at the vet with a followup dose sent home with you to be given to the kitten in about a week. Most times a kittens first visit to the vet costs anywhere from $45-100 depending on the health of the kitten and any medications being sent home with you.

  2. This is likely tapeworm.  You can get very good dewormers at the local petshop (although smaller ones might now have much of a selection).

  3. Depending on the age of the kitten- there are dewormers available at the pet store-  also check with your local Humane Society- they have low cost vaccines generally-

  4. De-worm them with shots at the vet. Look it up at http://maps.google.com/ for the nearest vet.

    Shots cost about $50.

  5. Your cats could have tape worms which needs to be treated by a vet with medication, it's easy to get rid of but if left untreated it will kill the cat.

  6. Did it look kinda like rice?

If so then it's probably tapeworms.  Take him and a stool sample to the vet to be sure.  Kittens often have worms and he may have others that you haven't seen.  It shouldn't be very expensive.  You could call a few vets to get their prices since some vets charge a lot more for the same stuff.

Don't buy stuff yourself, the over the counter stuff isn't safe and the vet needs to test to figure out which worms to treat.

  7. They have worms, which is common. They need a de-wormer. You can get it at a pet store, or at the vets.

As far as how much their shots will cost, you need to call the vet because it will differ from place to place.

  8. there are different types of worms that cats can have. if its a thin worm then its probably tape worm. they dont do any serious damag to cats. they just make them very thin and they wont eat much. my cat had tape worm once. its not anything to worry about. i sugest you go to the vets and they will give you tablets or some form of medicine.

  9. There are many kinds of worms that can be found, so I can't really tell you what they do. Most of them can easily hurt the cat. you can get the shots for him (or her) at the vet. Normally, you should get all the shots and vaccinations done at once. they will all together cost about $100. Then you should get him neutered/spayed. This will cost about $100-200.

    Hope this helps

  10. you can get shots at the vet. call the vet and ask them how much it is

  11. The white worm you found was exactly that, a worm. They are relatively harmless if treated promptly. If left untreated, you cat will not gain weight, or get the nutrition needed to develop and if left longer could die from the effects. You need to bring the kittens to the vet to be de-wormed. It is a simple process of pills that will kill the  worms. You will probably have to repeat the treatment 2 or 3 times since the medication does not kill eggs. While at the vets, you can also get the kittens their shots. The whole visit should cost less than 100 dollars.

  12. There are 2 types of white worm commonly seen in cats.  There are the tiny ones (the size of rice grains) that you might see around its bottom.  Those are tapeworm segments (basically baby tapeworm).  There are the larger ones that cats sick up.  These are roundworm.

The worms are parasites.  When your kitten eats, the food nourishes the worms and the kitten doesn't get enough nourishment.  If untreated, the kitten's growth is stunted and it can even die.

You need to get a wormer appropriate to your kitten's age and bodyweight.  With kittens, don't be tempted to use off-the-shelf worming tablets from stores - you need to give them an accurate dosage to kill the worm without making the kitten sick of an overdose of wormer.  Get the vet clinic to prescribe a suitable kitten wormer that treats both tapeworm and roundworm.

You also need to get flea treatment because the tapeworm lifecycle is linked to the flea lifecycle and you need to treat both at the same time to prevent reinfestation.  Get the flea treatment from the vet as well because some of the off-the-shelf flea treatments are unsuitable for kittens and can even cause poisoning in full grown cats.

At the same time you can ask about the cost of vaccinations.  The cost will vary a little from vet to vet and will depend on where you are located.

  13. Round worms and flatworms live in the cat's intestine and absorb the nutrients that should be nourishing the cat. So they cause anemia and other deficiencies that can be prevented by a simple trip to the vet to get either pills or a shot.

If you live in an area served by a Humane Society you can get most of the kitty-wellness exam for very little charge, but expect to pay about $40 for all the 3 or 4 vaccinations and worming. If you go to a private vet it would probably be around $80-$100 for a first visit including some flea treatment. Don't depend on over-the-counter Walmart type worm medicine as it can kill young kittens while it is killing the parasites.

But don't hesitate to take your cat in for an exam as soon as possible. Good luck and good-onya for taking in the kittens!
