  1. your friend must be an insured driver as well...

  2. Must states issue a provisional (restricted) driver license to a 17 year old.  That means an adult licensed driver must accompany her while driving. If this is the case DO NOT allow your friend to drive your car..

Currently there are two things you can do that will get you into serious trouble, financially speaking.  Loaning your car to a friend is one, giving them a cell phone that is in your name is the other.

  3. your friend may not be covered if they get in an accident...and can you trust them to take care of your car in the first place?

  4. Yes as long as your friend has a valid license and your permission to use your car you're covered. They usually only get touchy about it if the person lives in the same house as you. Then they want them listed as a driver of the car.You might call your insurance company to be sure though. They might have restrictions if your friend is very young.

edit..There has been a lot of friendships ended by that so think carefully before you loan out your car

  5. Check your policy, there are some out there that do not cover drivers under a certain age.

Otherwise, as long as she has permissive use she is covered.

  6. In the USA, Understand that you buy insurance for a vehicle, not a driver.  Usually, if you give permission to someone with a valid license to drive your insured car, they will be covered....BUT... there are sometime exceptions for younger drivers.  You will have to ask your insurance company.  They are the only ones who can answer your question.

  7. i wouldn't do that. what if something happens? just because the car is insured, it doesn't mean anything, do your have your friend listed as a second driver?

  8. I've gone through the similiar thing -- still a little bit painful, here is the resource help me out.http://car-insurance.online-helpers.info...

  9. Generally speaking, insurance goes with cars, not with drivers, so generally if she has your permission, she is also covered under your insurance.  BUT many policies don't cover anyone under the age of 25, so make that all important call to your agent and ask, just to be sure.
