I know it is copied because she's done this before, and I have seen the original picture. Theres also more artwork that goes along with the piece of artwork I'm looking for, it's a series of pictures.

Here is one of the series,

  2. Well, the picture your friend claimed to have drawn looks almost exactly like the picture you posted

I have never seen this series before, but if you can't find any other pictures that looks exactly like hers, then I believe she copied this picture.

Even though the pic's kinda small, I can see that the boy's left hand is almost exactly like the original, and it's body is facing forward instead of slightly right in the original. And I'll bet that even though I can't see the boy's right hand in this picture, it looks badly drawn compared to the left hand, right? The boy's leg is also somewhat badly drawn, and the teddy bear also seems to be drawn by amateur, because of its unequal width. Last of all, the umbrella is unnaturally bent- indicating that the person who draw this is a bad drawer.

So, I'd say your friend draw the picture based on the picture you have posted, changing around few things. As someone trying to improve their drawing, it is important to study the drawings of pros and also sometimes copy their works, but they should always give credit to the original artists.....
