My friend defines morals as the good intentions of an individual?

But then morality should eliminate it's social awareness. Because in all essence, the fact that the word even exists is to state that it affects those around you, that they are entitled to call your actions "moral" or immoral". That therefore doesn't make sense. Morality should be defined as the collective awareness all individuals have towards a certain approved social standard. Let's call the drive our conscience? The awareness of judgment regardless of culture or age. Why would you describe it as "good intentions" if an intent is an action towards another being... If morality was a personal choice then your two statements contradict each other. What is your view on this?

  1. I agree with what you say. I disagree with your friend. Intentions can mean nothing. I didn't intend to rob a bank or whatever but I did. It's morally wrong to rob a bank and that comes from society.
