Ok so about a month ago I went with my friend (who is 19 and I am 20) to look at a 3 yr old QH gelding... Her parents said they would buy it for her so we were going to get my trailer that weekend and drive back down and pick him up. I called her she told me how her mom didn't want her to have it and her dad wasn't going to pay for it anymore (her parents are divorced)but she was going to buy it. So about 2 weeks ago I asked her about the horse again and she said she probably wouldn't get it. Well I loved the horse and I kinda left it alone because she found him. Should I go ahead and talk to the man and see if she has made any arrangements and try to get the horse or do I just look for another horse. I know I am asking like I am 13 but I am just wanting to know if it would hurt you if your friend bought a horse that you found.

  1. Some friends would be happy to know that the horse was is good hands, while others would be jealous and feel betrayed. Make sure you really want the horse, not just because your friend wanted it. Make sure it is at your level at riding and will do what you want it to.

If you deside it is everything you want, and you really want it, talk to your friend. but, if you think you might find something better that will fit you more look around.

Horses are expensive and you dont want to make any mistakes!

Good luck, i hope it works out for you!

  2. I would be straight forward with your friend and ask her. That is the only way you will know. I bet she will tell you it is fine and she will want to go.

  3. No.  It isn't like you ran over there and stole him away from her, bought him out from underneath when you knew she was still trying to work it out..

I'd be glad for my friend, I'd be happy the horse I liked was in a good home, and I'd save my pennies to work towards making you a great offer when I could afford to buy him.

  4. i agree. get the horse. at least she can come and ride it whenever she wants hay?

  5. Go ahead and get the horse. It's not your fault she can't get him. Hopefully she'll be happy knowing where the horse has gone.

  6. no id acually be happy cause then i could see the horse as much as i wanted!! i say go for it!! good luck w/ the horse

  7. got for it it not your fault if she isnt getting it and anyway you would kick yourself if you could have got it and in a few weeks time you see it been worked too hard or abandond

  8. I would buy the horse if i was willing to let her ride him every now and then. Because buying him and then not letting her ride him every once and awhile would be mean in my opinion. If i was her i would be thrilled to still know him and i wouldn't be upset. I would feel privileged to be able to still ride him once and awhile. talk to her first. tell her you are thinking about purchasing him. see what her response is and go from there.

  9. Decide what is more important your frndship or the horse or you could just ask your friend if you would like to share the hose caus she could pay half the price while pay the other half that is what i have done with my friend and it worked out fine

    good luck :)

  10. If she's not going to get him, then he's fair game. If it would make you feel better, why don't you give her a call and tell her that if she wasn't going to get him that you want him, and then see what she says. That would be better then going and talking to the current owner first, then approaching her. She might feel like you went behind her back that way.

  11. Don't ask us...............ask your friend.

  12. well it is not your fault she cant get the horse so go ahead

  13. well, talk to your friend, be like hey since you arent getting it, can i?
