  1. did he get other letter before this one ?

  2. They are just notifying your friend that they have received the extra documentation he sent to the to support his application.  They would have received his inital application then sent a notice asking for some extra info, could have been extra tax returns, pay stubs from his sponsor, maybe a copy of his ID or extra photos. Whatever they asked for from your friend, he must have sent something in response. This is just telling him that they have received the documentation he sent and are now processing his case again.  If he is applying for his greencard he will likely have to go for biometrics (fingerprinting) and an interview, therefore the time it take to process his application will vary due to when these things are scheduled.

  3. There is nothing your friend needs to do now.  This notice is a receipt from USCIS acknowledging that they have received the addition documents that your friend (or his/her lawyer) has sent to USCIS.

However, since more than 60 days has passed, your friend (or the lawyer) may wish to contact USCIS, or check the case status on www.uscis.gov, just in case USCIS has sent another notice or request that got lost in the mail.

    See also the links below.

  4. All he can do is wait. What matters most is that he had responded for the RFE and now the case is in process. It is quite clear on the status of the case there.

    Good luck!
