My friend had gotten about 7 boils/staph infections in a 3 year period. ?

They went away for 4-5 years, then all of a sudden they started popping up again. Now within the past few months he has gotten over 30 of them in various spots of his body, like his legs, face, butt, and pubic area. Why would they go away for so long then start coming back like that?
