Package arrived broken and they picked up the broken package from him. Will they pay for the merchandise to be replaced/repaired? He thinks he might have ordered insurance on it but he can't remember.

  1. typically the max UPS will pay is $100 unless he paid for extra insurance.

  2. UPS shipping includes insurance on all packages up to, I do believe, 100 dollars, at no additional cost. It is included in the shipping. Same with FedEx.

You only need to pay for insurance with USPS or with very expensive things.

It will be a proccess to claim on the insurance (they will want to inspect the item and you will need to prove the value) but I would file a claim. They try and make the proccess annoying so they don't have to people when they break their items which is just bad. I would file a claim with them.

  3. Also, since the item was paid by credit card, there is a 60 day window to dispute the charge.  If it is not replaced by the time the bill arrives dispute it in writing and then when made good pay the bill.
