  1. If it's a real 1933 Goudey, then its probably worth several thousand dollars. Have your friend go to a local card shop and ask a person working there to look in the Beckett card guide.

  2. There are listed estimates in many baseball publications.  The price can vary. However the bottom line is that the card is only worth what a collector is willing to pay.  Licensed vendors can give you much more accurate numbers as to the market value.  You can find them at local baseball card conventions or through email directly to these establishments.

  3. I'm betting your "friend" has a reprint. It's worth 2 or 3 bucks.

  4. Might as well check it out. If it's an original print, it might be worth something, depending on its condition.

  5. The original is worth 1000's of dollars and was only available by writing to the Goudey company in 1934 and requesting the card.  Goudey did not release card #106 in 1933 and a lot of people trying to complete the set complained so they released a 1933 version of the Lajoie in 1934 and sent it out through the mail to anybody that requested it.

A booklet was put out in the late 80's or early 90's that discussed the basics of card collecting.  It had reprints of valuable cards including the Lajoie and the T-206 Honus Wagner among others.  It mentioned how much the card was worth on the back and obviousily no original card would list how much it was worth.

I'm willing to guess the card you friend has either came out of this book or is some other kind of reprint because like I said, an original 1933 Lajoie would be worth 1000's.

edit: Is somebody giving me thumbs down for the heck of it because what I mention is absolutely true?
