  1. If you can't find it it probably has left.

  2. I'd probably go with the net idea, but certainly, no matter, one has to locate it first. That would best be accomplished in daylight, but without knowing at all where the access point is, you may just have a part time visitor?

Have you access to a crawl space/attic? Have you been able to determine any openings in the soffit line?

It would be rare for a bat to lose its way from others in its species, but obviously you may have one with dysfunctional radar. I'd still want to find it during the day, when it is most likely dormant  The net might be the safe way, but depending on where the bat is hanging, might not be the most effective method of capture. I used to work as a reptile wrangler for an attraction, and had a bat choose the louvers in my locker to hang on during the day. I pretty much left it alone until it decided to find other accomodations.

I do suspect that BATTING,,, No pun intended, around the house with a 2 x 4, might do more damage than the "bat"

    Just my two "sense"

  3. Unless that is a once-in-a-lifetime accidental bat (flew through a window or down a chimney) he really should hire a professional. Bats in many areas (like New York State) carry rabies and can give deadly bites. That is not a vampire thing - just a fatal infection.

Professionals will put up one-way netting around any house openings and will check to be sure that the bats are out of the attic, eaves, chimney etc. Then they will put up screening that will prevent new entry. That is about $2000 to do a large house.

  4. If you have a fisherman's landing net, you may be able to catch it with that.  You'll do better to wait for it to land somewhere, rather than trying to snare it out of mid-air.

Bats are probably more likely than any other animal to have rabies, so be sure to use the gloves, and minimize how you handle it.  Rabies can be transmitted via saliva, so you may want to spritz the gloves with some alcohol or Lysol or some other compound to disinfect them afterwards.

  5. STOP screaming and open eyes.  Put gloves on and look for it.  It's somewhere in ur house and if u catch it take it outside and let it go.  That's the way to go.  good luck.  If ur Asian,  Bats are a sign of good luck and is coming ur way.
