  1. Yes...the table is for Three Cushion Billiards.  My advice is to keep that friendship going and the two of you should learn to play the game and learn to play it well.  Why?  Because you don't see these tables around very much and if you become a good Three Cushion player you'll become an excellent kicker...and solid kicking skills will bail you out of some tough spots in 8- & 9-ball and you'll win more games.

  2. LOL-It's not defective it's a billiard table. It's a good game. Haven't you ever seen, "The Hustler".

  3. What your friend has is a Carom Billiards Table.  It is for games such as 3 cushion billiards.

  4. It's not a pool table, it's a snooker table. 2 completely different games.

  5. It will be a three cushion billiards table.

Not a game you see played a lot these days.

Never seen a table here in england, but i think it might still be played in europe.

I know Amarillo "slim" preston did some exhibition matches against the then world chamion during the second world war.

He was from either france or belgium.

  6. ROFL... no pockets?! Never heard of it... that's pretty funny, are you sure he/she didn't order a card table by accident? ;]

  7. Well I've learned something new today.  I've never heard of that game where no pockets are required on the table.

  8. 3 cushion

  9. For a start, it's not a pool table; it's a billiards table.  It probably only has three balls, too, and that is just fine.

The snooker table answer is wrong.  Snooker tables have pockets, but with rounded corners and the table is proportioned differently, wider in relation to length than a billiards or pool table.
