My friend has a hidden camera in his restroom!!?

Ok! Here's the story. My friend was out of town and handed his key to another guy to take care his cat. One day when he went to feed his cat, he accidently found a receiver for hidden camera. The receiver was connected to the video player. He went through his tape and found two tapes were recorded with me and my friends using the restroom. Is it ok to install a hidden camera in his restroom since it's his own property? And is it against the law to go through his tapes? Awww... I need help!!

If you are taped without your knowledge or consent, depending on what state you live in, it is likely a violation of law.  If you are in various states of undress and taped without your knowledge or consent, you  have a good case.

He should have have warned you about the camera since you are the one who is doing him a favor.  He may well have camera there due some past problem with burglars etc. Since he is your friend and he has trusted you with his house flat what ever he is residing in.  Be a good friend and inform him.  Don`t go running to police incase he has good reasons.

You have an implied expectation of privacy when using the restroom (baring some sort of signed release). Contact the police, a crime may very well have been committed.

Sounds like a B.S. phony story to me.

But if it's in the USA then it's only illegal in SOME states (the USA has some very backward laws). Personally, if it did really happen I wouldn't need the Courts to settle the matter anyway.
