My friend was contacted by her doctor today to inform her of an STD. Recently she had a pap test done and the STD was found at this time. Upon hearing the news, my friend passed out (yes, she is married) and was unable to hear the name of the STD. When she came around, all she could remember the doctor saying is that the STD did not require any form of medication, but can reoccur periodically. Needless to say, my the doctor's office has closed for the day and she can not contact them until Tuesday to find out the information she missed. Does anyone know what this could be. Is it HPV maybe? The doctor did say that she did not have this STD on her last pap test, one year ago. She has not had any symptoms.

  1. Maybe Herpes? That is a infection that has no treatment and also will come and go. Cold sores are a common form of Herpes. She should call her doctor again to find out what it is so that she can inform her Husband.

  2. during regular paps (unless she suggested something special) they test only for HPV, chlamydia and gonorrhea.

If no meds, then not the last 2, must be HPV, but usually if they detect that, they require more often paps until it does go away and they detect it again.  there are 100+ variations of HPV and it's estimated that 80% of women get it at some point in their life, so married or not, if either of them has had more than one partner, they both probably have it.  it's no big deal unless it's the cancer causing one or the warts one (which can be taken care of... just burn/freeze the warts off)

the only other thing that i could think of would be herpes, but if the doc noticed, then chances are your friend would have noticed.  and if she's married, her hubby will get it or already has it, so what are you going to do?

either way, they may as well enjoy the s*x knowing that there' snothing that they can do
