My friend recently acquired an old big screen tv and the yellow color bulb is out and that is why everything that is supposed to look blue on the screen looks green. He can fix it himself but the bulb is really in their deep and he wants to know if there is some sort of trick to getting it out in a non complicated way. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

  1. Sounds like it is a color wheel and not the bulb. This will make the bulb not light up. Color wheels are very expensive costing around $150 starting out for the cheapest model.

  2. he could seriously electrocute himself, tv's actually have stored electricity in them.  as long as he knows what he's doing.  if not, make sure he fills out a will and he gives you some cool stuff.   be sure to tell him you don't want the tv, since it will only be partially fixed.

  3. No,  if they are old they are picture tubes. Very expensive.
