She's only dialated to 1. She's had no contractions. Is this normal? They say her cervix is still hard.

  1. I worked with a girl that when she went into labor she wasn't dialating at all even with pitocin. And they had to do a emergency c-section because every time she had a contraction the baby's heartbeat started to drop. It doesn't sound like she is making much progress and that is probably what they will do.

  2. Since she has been on it for that long, they won't have her on it much longer. If she doesn't start to make some major changes she will be going in for a c-section. With her being on it that long and still only 1 I'm surprised they haven't done it already..Good luck to your friend, hope she isn't in too much pain..

  3. My friend was induced on a Thursday and they ended up doing a c-section on Saturday cause she never got past 3 cm....they said her body just never caught on

  4. Oh my GOD!!!!!!  OF course she's not progressing!  She's not even due yet!  And for them to induce because the baby hasn't dropped - poor, poor, poor decision.  Babies can drop at the last minute - induction won't do c**p about making the baby drop.  What an incompetent doctor your friend has.  Your friend should have also been an advocate for her baby and made them wait it out until she was at least a few days past her due date.  They also should have given her Cervidil to ripen her cervix before starting the pitocin.  They're trying to force her body to do something it isn't ready to do and she's going to end up with a c-section with failure to progress and it's a shame.   What an unethical doctor.  I'm really pissed about this situation. I hate medicine sometimes.

  5. i was induced with that for 24 h I was 1 cm before it started and was 2 after 24h they then but a drip in my arm that brought the labour on hard and strong so sounds normal to me but I'm not a dc or a midwife

  6. That happened to my mom when I was born. She was 2 weeks overdue and I ended up being a c sect. She just would not dialate. The imbulical cord was wrapped around my neck and shoulder so I was just too tangled up to come out! I don't think it's very common.    Poor girl!

  7. Your body can reject labor if it's not ready. I have heard of people on pitocin even longer then that, but I assume there is a good reason why they are inducing her at this point. They may stop the pitocin and send her home, otherwise they may perform a c section.

  8. She may end up with a c section unfortunetly. The risk of that goes up alot when your induced. I go in monday to get induced and i'm terrified of the same thing happening to me. Did they do anything before the pitocin to soften her cervix?

  9. Was there a reason why they induced her being only 1 cent and all? It sounds like she isnt progressing at all. If she has been in labor already for 12 hours on pitocin and they still dont see any change then they will probably have to do a c-section, they can only allow a woman to be in labor for long before opting for a c-section...
