  1. Well, she can do homework on evolution without believing any of it.

If I were sent to a yeshiva, I wouldn't come out as a believing Jew.

She can use phrases in her homework like, "According to the theory of evolution..." to avoid it that way. On tests she'll just have to suck it up and give them the answers they want; but what is a test if not that?

It shouldn't be a big deal.

  2. Find yourself a more sensible friend and leave this person to wallow in her ignorance.

  3. As a Christian a student has the right to not participate in any lessons that are against their religion. Unfortunately public school science is infested with that theory and taught as a fact. I point blank told my world history teacher (My senior year) that I was NOT going to do the evolution worksheets she handed out. Instead I sat in class and read my Bible! My classmates thought I was nuts but it worked she couldn't make me do it or even sit in the class while she taught it.

Try the truth for youth websites. I remember the student rights were listed in the Bible they print.

  4. There is no conflict between being a Christian and learning about the theory of evolution. In fact, most Christians believe it to be a correct interpretation. Burying her head in the sand will not help her to grow either intellectually or spiritually.

  5. She may not have any choice.  You might suggest to her to check out

http://www.answersingenesis.org to find out about the other side of the story.

There is a evidence for microevolution (small changes within genus), but very little for macroevolution (formation of new genus through evolution) but the schools will present it as if it is fact.  The website above will give her the other side of the story for just about every claim the school textbooks make.

  6. Well she doesn't have a choice in what she will be taught. This is what Public schools do- they teach what the government forces them to teach and one is evolution. Now she certaintly doesn't have to believe it, but it will be taught and Christianity will not be taught or any mention of God in the school system. Quite sad.

  7. I suggest her just being homeschooled.

  8. Ask her how she's going to prove the eeebil evolutionist scientists wrong if she doesn't even know what the theory says?

  9. Her best bet is to approach it as a theory. when she has a homework assignment, research paper or test she can say "Darwin believed... or according to the text.......

  10. Well, she has to accept what is being taught even if she doesn't believe it.

Btw, what does she think they do in public school--spend every day talking about evolution? Chances are it won't even come up. I went through ALL of public school without once talking about evolution.

  11. I understand a lot of people do not believe in Evolution and do not want to learn about it. However, a person can learn a subject to the fullest, yet not believe in it. But, this is a fundamental concept in all areas of science such as Geology, Physical Anthropology, and Biology, just to name a few. In fact, there are many scientists who believe in Creationism and Evolution at the same time! The subject of Evolution may be difficult to avoid, because most colleges require science courses that teach it. Remember, it is not the job of the teacher to change a person's mind to believe in it, they are only to present the evidence.
