  1. Before you start finding managers/agents/record companies.. you need to do a bit of work yourself, instead of getting other people to do it.

You need to get musicians together and play his songs in a local club/open mic night. Get some feedback.. if people like the songs, keep going, if they don't.. then you have no hope of getting a manger.

People will only give you thier time, if you can prove that you will be profitable. By gaining a local/online fanbase, you are letting agents/managers/labels know that people like you.

    :)

  2. First off tell him to get an agent. That's if he wants to become part of a big recording company. If that's the case, he will be waiting many many years. If not, he should record his songs to a cd and send them off to a local radio station. They often have contests and local artists on the radio, so that would be  good idea.

If he's interested in doing gigs, just reassure him that he won't get a paying gig for quite a while unless he gets an agent.

  3. I would reccomend telling him to make sure that he has made sure the songs are of the best ability. He'll only get one shot at this. Once he's been rejected they wont think twice about it again.

Usually it would be a good idea to get a manager to help him get signed. However I believe that if he's presistent and willing enough, he should send his CD to record companies and ensure that they listen to it. If this fails (which in most cases it does) he should start playing locally at a club where producers often go and hope that he gets noticed.
