My friend is a police officer in Florida he purchased a hand gun doesn't like it and wants to sell it tom me

Do I have to do anything? register it with state or something? I do have a concealed weapons permit.

  1. If your friend is a police officer, he should already know how to legally transfer a gun to someone.

    If you live in Florida he can just sell it directly to you without a background check because of your CCW. If you live outside of Florida, you may have to have it transfered through a someone with a Federal Firearms License (FFL).


  2. You do not have to register a gun in Florida; it still has some of the trappings of a free state.

  3. You would follow the same rules as anyone else who buys and sells a gun.  Whatever state the transaction occurs in, is what dictates the rules of the sale.  Course you better remove that lojack thingy and that other super secret mechanism that measures the number of times you un-holster your weapon and fire it. LOL  Just kidding...  It is the same as anyone else...

  4. you should know if it was ever fired and by whom and why.
