My friend is going through some tought times right now what words of inspiration can i give him?

i have a friend who's father recently passed and his dad was his best friend. a farely young guy passed at the aged of 50 something due to heart problems. and just a week or so his sister lost the baby. normally my friend is the most happy go lucky guy youll ever meet but he is really down on his luck right now. i mean he's not saying anything suicidial or anything but hes really bummin. i want to tell him its gonna be alright but im sure he hears that all day everyday. what words of wisodm/advise can i give him

I wouldn't really bring up his fathers death to much. My father passed away when I was a teenager and I got tired of people asking me how I was doing. He's already got it on his mind and maybe that one time you ask might have been the time he wasn't thinking about it. I would just be there to get his mind off of it. Try and get him to go places or play video games or the things you guys like to do. When he wants to talk he'll talk. Hope all goes well.LOL

I'm sorry for what your friend is going through. First, you can say, "I'm so sorry you lost your dad and that your sister lost the baby. You must be going through so much right now." Then, tell him that you are there for him no matter what. And, that if he ever wants to talk, you will be there for him. Just the fact that you are such a good friend and that you let him know you are there for him makes all the difference in the world. He is hurting and grieving right now. It's part of the process and he has to feel the pain to heal to feel better later. He will never get over the lost and it will hurt a long time to lose someone he loves so much. But, eventually, he will feel a little better after he's gone through the different stages of grief, although it will take alot of time....Also, it's great that he has such a caring and good friend to be there for him.
