I'd say if you message him he is sure to get it - I moved to italy and my family can still message me, and I'd say they could call me of they really wanted to without any hassles and I don't have any global range stuff - just an everage phone.

If he has global roaming enabled on his phone, call 0011 65 and then his number (but don't include the first 0 in his number). For example, if his number is 0402123456, you would call 001165402123456
