My friend is letting me borrow his motorcycle for a year while he is deployed, how do I go about insuring it?

it's a paid off 2005 R1, do I need full coverage?

Simply call some insurance companies and get a quote.  Yes, it would be wise have full coverage, especially since it is not your bike

YOU cannot insure it unless you have a POA from him.  HE owns it so HE has to insure it.  he needs to take out a policy and list you as a driver on the policy.

Contact your ins. agent - Im not sure if you can do that with it being in his name, he might have to insure it and you pay for it. You would not have to have full coverage but its not a bad idea, Progressive has great motorcycle coverage.  Also do you have your MC lic.?

Riding a motorbike? You'd be safer getting deployed yourself. I've lost two dear ones on motorbikes.
