He had money stolen out of his bank and became homeless after loosing his job. Was denied unemployment. What can he do if he has no place to go? He is a good guy and I wish I could help him out But I am just getting by myself. Is there a place in madison that will help him get back on his feet? No money, a car but no gas, ect.

  1. Could he crash on your couch (or floor, if you don't have a couch)?  Could you share a bit of your food/shelter/etc?  You may be "just barely getting by" but you ARE getting by...he isn't.

  2. I know as hard as it may seem for oyu right now, couldn't you just take him in for awhile? You and he could go to local pantries to help on the grocery end, and either way for rent you still have to pay the same as you do now without him there...and necessary items, well shampoo, deoderant, bar of soap, that stuff is quite cheap....you can go to a dollar store and get that for a total of $5 or less, can't you afford to help with $5.00? If you really look at this even though you are in rough waters financially too, with ways I have suggested you should be able to help him for a bit. Have a heart and help him out, but make sure you encourage him to find a job, even if it is only part time so he can get a start on helping you and helping himself.

  3. He needs to contact the Salvation Army:

If you are in need of shelter, please contact the Salvation Army at 256-2321.  The Salvation Army handles intake for the shelter system throughout Dane County.

    That's a local Madison (608) phone number.

He can also contact these guys:

Was a report filed for the stolen money?  Both the bank and the police department need to be contacted.

I hate to have to say this, but if he lost his job and was denied unemployment... something went wrong, i.e. he got fired for a reason that he brought on himself.
