  1. Most likely, she will be able to do the written and driving tests on the same day.  I've never known a case where someone had to do them separately, but it may depend on the particular DPS office that you visit (and how crowded they are).  You might want to call your nearest office and find out for certain.

Also, assuming she's a Norwegian (or other non-US) citizen, she DOES NOT need a green card to apply.  However, foreign citizens do usually need to be a US resident.  According to the Texas DPS website, she most likely needs to have permission to stay in the US for a year (according to the expiration date on her I-94 arrival form).  In that case, she would just need to bring along her passport (and visa) and her I-94 card.

In the case that she's a student or an exchange visitor, she can apply for a license with the following (instead of the one-year I-94):

    -  If she is studying in the US:  An I-94 arrival form showing a student status code: F1, F2, M1, or M2, a valid form I-20, and proof of enrollment in a Texas school or sponsorship in a vocational visiting worker program.

    -  If she is an exchange visitor:  An I-94 with status J1 or J2, and an unexpired form IAP-66 or DS-2019.

  2. She needs a green card to apply for a driver's license. If she is here as a tourist she will not be eligible. If she can drive a car, and has experience, than the biggest hurdle will be the written test. If her English comprehension is good, that she should be able to take the test in a couple of days.

  3. Does she already hold a Norwegian drivers license? If she do, she can drive without obtaining a Texas drivers license for up to one year.

  4. no, she has to take the permit test first...........it depends on where you live

  5. can you gimme your email...i do wanna talk
