I have a best friend who is pretty much like a sister to me. I've known her all my life since I was 3 years old and we are both 20 years old now. All of a sudden, she's been into all these runway models. She doesn't wanna be one, she just likes looking like one. She is 20 years old, 5'1" and weighs 92 pounds. She's eating about 900 calories a day and I think she gets dizzy sometimes. She is already tiny and SKINNY.. super skinny! She wants to be even thinner and is obsessing over her weight. She is into all these diets, obsessing over models, everything. I know something is wrong with her. She doesn't want to go out to eat, she wants to stay home and eat very little and look at models. She is always asking me to exercise with her. How can I help her? :(

  1. Your friend is in trouble. Is she starting to wear loose clothing yet? You are a good friend, and you can not feel like she's going to hate you.  But you must save her life. Yes, it's that serious, and I've seen too many young women DIE of Anorexia. (Possible Bulimia?  Do you know if she throws up?)

You ask how you can help her.  You can't. Anything you say, she will still look in the mirror and think she's fat.  What you MUST do is get the adults involved.  I mean hopefully her mother and/or father. They probably have no idea what's going on.  Or else, a close adult who will FORCE her to see a doctor.  Just a regular doctor to start with.  Have them weigh her with her clothes OFF. They have all kinds of tricks.  They fill their pockets with rocks, and you have to be sure she doesn't drink 2 gallons of water before she goes.  This is an epidemic.  The doctors know all the tricks.  They may admit her that day, or they may say that if she gets down to 90 pounds, she'll be admitted.  These inpatient hospitals are WONDERFUL.  They are her only hope of getting better.  And she must start NOW. You asked this question just in time. Any longer and she'll be down into the 80's and then the 70's, and all kinds of horrible things will happen.  Does she still have her period?  Is her hair falling out yet? If you need to, show this to her mother.  I'm a 54-year old nurse and mother who has seen too much.

Have them check out this site: http://psychcentral.com

Go to "Eating Disorders."  Don't waste any time.  If she's exercising all day, she's in trouble. That's all I can do for you.  I can give you a star for being such a good friend. You must get the ball rolling ASAP.

Bless you and good luck.  :)
