My friend pierced her own tongue, help?

I don't know how old she is exactly.

She's somewhere around thirteen, I don't talk to her all that much.

Anyways, she pierced it herself. She said she numbed it for like 3 hours and then just stuck a needle or something through it.

Her mom said she had to take it out, once it healed up, but will it heal up? Or will it be scarred for good? It looks really good.

And also; should I ask her to do mine? Or is that a bad idea?

  1. Do not have her do yours.  You CANNOT use an open needle to do piercings.  You need a sterile needle to do those kinds of piercings.  To do the earlobe would be one thing but the tounge you need a professional to do it for you.

  2. You have many blood vessels that run through your tongue. If she hits one of those vessels, it will cause uncontrolable bleeding and clotting. You will be cutting tissue from around the ring for hours. Trust me, a professional pierced my vessel and I had to go to the hospital.

  3. Well, she's stupid for doing it herself. (unprofessionally and unsterilized at that.)

And if your really dumb enough to ask a stupid question like "should she do mine too?", then yes, ask her to do yours so you can wind up with an infection like hers.

  4. I pierced my own ears and they turned out better than the ones done professionally, but tounges are different. Don't have her do it for you. I wouldn't want someone sticking there hands in my mouth.

  5. that's a really bad idea.

  6. this is VERY unhygienic!!!! she maybe didn't even clean the needle, or properly. it will heal up very easily, as long as she leaves out the ring/stud. tongues are one of the bodies fastest healing parts! it is a terrible idea to get yours done by her. the best and healthiest place to get any piercings are at your doctors office.

    good luckerz!!!

  7. bad idea. unless you want some nerves to be hit and your tongue to be limp, and to not be able to talk or eat for the rest of your life. i had my tongue professionally pierced and he was telling me all of the risks you take doing something like that yourself. your friend isn't very bright, but extremely lucky she still has a normal functioning tongue.

if will close up eventually if she takes it out, but there will probably be a bump underneath her tongue forever.

  8. you tongue will fall off and you'll lose you sense of taste forever

  9. this is really stupid of your friend and 13 with a tongue piercing? thats really young..

I was reading on BME of this girl, i was trying to find the link to the site but i was reading about this 2 weeks ago and she was in a hospital cause her tongue got infected and they had to cut her scalp open remove a portion of her bone and sow the skin back on the scalp and now shes missing a big chunk of bone on her head, oh they also had to shave it  and the reason they removed a portion of her skull was because to relieve pressure of the brain because it was really swollen and the infection went from her tongue to her brain considering how close the tongue is to your brain.

if it gets infected you will need antibiotics, and dont remove the jewelry if it gets infected because it can travel to other places

  10. She just might get an infection so do NOT do yours
