..what looks like a dollar bill...it says 1492-1992 500 anos Cristoforo Colombo. It has a watermark and what looks like other security features. However it doesn´t seem to be money (pesos) as it doesn´t have the word peso or bank of Argentina anywhere on it, nor does it have a serial number. It also says on the back Llenas & CIA S.A. Any idea what it is?

  2. I don't think it's an Argentinean coin. In Argentina there are a lot of Numismatic Markets (In Rivadavia Park for example each Sunday) so...it's possible that it's a bill from somewhere in the world

  3. maybe it's really really old money that she bought in an antique market, there are plenty of those.

  4. Hello there, I'm a proud argentine too! From what I could find out in google, Llenas & Cía S.A. is just a local printing firm... Our currency doesn't have written on it the name of Colombus (the discoverer of America) but rather the faces of former presidents and patriotic heroes... My guess is that it was either a bond or perhaps just a souvenir? But no idea, really. :)

  5. Hi I'm from Argentina, and I've never heard about something like that.  Cristoforo Colombo commonly know as Cristobal Colon was the first conqueror of the Americas territory. If the... "dollar bill" say CIA I don't think that it come from Argentina. This could be from USA or Canada.
