My friend says the strangest things when drunk?

He said he would give up drinking for me, I think he was just tossing his words around, what do you think? We are friends, but lately I feel he wants to be more than that.

It sounds as if his drinking is quite a big deal for him so if he is willing to do this for you then it seems to me he is probably quite serious.

the truth can come out when your drunk, maybe he likes you. Maybe he just wanted to get in your pants, who know. Keep your eyes and ears open on him.

He probably does want to be more than that.

Typically a single guy wants to be with every woman that is around him, we really aren't that picky we just want to be looked after and treated well most of the time.  It's just nice to be respected and understood really, there are specific desires that get more complicated than that as you extend from there, but unless a guy has very "discerning tastes" which ussually means likes the same things, or is of the same genetic heritage, with a good man it ussually just comes down to "does she treat me well?"

So it sounds like he respects and admires you if nothing else, and that's a big part of it.  You certainly have the friendship and trust part of being a significant other going for you, which is ussually the hard part for most people I'm sad to say.

It makes you sound like a rather admirable person and that you should be proud of yourself.

Well never believe anything someone says when they are drunk! Have a little patience and wait until they are not drunk. If drinking is an issue I recommend you educate yourself about it. Here are two starter sites-

Do you put the guilts on him for drinking? Perhaps he's just being a bit melodramatic. Teenagers often like to think they have a hardcore drinking problem every time they get a sniff of beer. They romanticize it. Next time he's drunk, just straight out ask him if he fancies you. Alcohol is a great truth serum !! :)
