heres a list of things that happened in no particular order:

1) 6 years ago, he woke up and heard rattling from the kitchen, he went to the kitchen and all the cutlery draws were open and rattling and the fridge was open and a jar of marmalade was rolling on the floor.

2) The next day, he went back down to the kitchen and put his glass of water on the table and left. When he came back to get the water from the table it was gone. When he went to the bathroom it was sitting in the middle of the bath.

3) A few weeks later he did a test to see if a poltergeist was in his house. He put a glass of water in his bedroom and left it there for about half an hour when no-one was in the house. When he came back to it it was gone and he never found it. Annoyed that the glass was missing rather than moved, He shouted "you stupid f****** poltergeist, f*** off."

After that, as he went down the stairs he tripped over half way on his bag which he had left under a table.

So, does my friend have a poltergeist or is there any explanations for this?

  1. Watch the movie, rent it from Blockbuster.

  2. Some of what you are talking about is called Borrowing.  I always use car keys as an example, where you set them down in the kitchen, and when you go to get them they are gone.   You find them later in the day on your dresser in your room.  It sounds more like what ever entity might be in the house is really trying to get someones attention.  Is this happening to anyone else?  One way to help determine what you might be dealing with is to look for a local ghost hunting group.  Tell them your story and see what they recommend.  If they are any good they will not charge for their services.  If they try to charge you, find someone else.  It sounds like you need to talk to some one in  person about this rather than us Yahoo answer people.  Good Luck.

  3. Sounds like these:  http://www.yourghoststories.com/ghost-st...

  4. Really this is too little information...

Many possibilities to explain this abound:

    - He could be misinterpreting (or misremembering) the events (they might be unrelated coincidence)

    - There could be someone else just doing this (either as a joke or inadvertantly)

    - He could be doing some of this subconciously

    - An animal (mouse, etc.) could perform much of what is claimed

    - Someone could have easily left the refrigerator door slightly open (a drawer open, etc.)

    - Somethnig you (or I) haven't thought of yet

Just too many natural possibilities to jump into the, "It must be a ghost" claim.

  5. I would say No. But I think that that is just a cheeky ghost. Maybe a child or someone. Poltergiests would have taken the glass and proberly thrown it. Hope this helps. :-)

  6. From the evidence provided, a poltergeist is a possibility. But it could also just a ghost (probably a child) that likes to play little tricks on people. Poltergeists like to throw things around. If your friend isn't taking these events very well, he should call an exorcist or a medium to try and contact the entity

  7. Maybe your friend is causing these disturbances himself.  Here is what I have found on the web:

During a poltergeist experience, the agent, in an attempt to relieve emotional stress, unknowingly causes the physical disturbances using mental forces. The mental mechanism that allows the poltergeist agent to unconsciously cause these physical disturbances is called psychokinesis. Psychokinesis, PK, more commonly known as "mind over matter," is the human ability to mentally affect the physical environment. Because the psychokinetic activity of the poltergeist agent is recurrent and spontaneous, this form of psychokinesis is termed RSPK or recurrent spontaneous psychokinesis. Most agents are unaware that they are causing the physical disturbances, and even those with vague awareness usually have no conscious control over how and when the disturbances will occur.
