My friend told me something that I need proof?

She told me not to buy an '08 car for my first car because half of the teens that buy an '08 car end up ruining it in the first two months.

Is this true? And if it is, what is a good year to get your first car?

  1. You should probably get something that is between the years of 1999-2004 and dont get a luxury type, sports type or luxury sports type because the insurance rate for a new teen driver would be very high. Go with a small or midsized sedan.

Also, if a teen is driving a brand new car, the insurance rate would be even higher.

  2. Its not a question of the year of the car.  Its a matter of the way a car is treated.  Your first car will likely get in its share of parking-lot scrapes, door dings, and general neglect from inexperience.  thats why its usually not advisable to get a brand new car first.  Get an older car that can be had inexpensively.  That way, when you doo get into fender-benders, its not a fortune to fix.
