My friend wants a fig tree. Can I give her a branch or something from my full grown fig tree to start one?

how do I give a slip for a fig tree to my friend from my full grown fig tree.

You would have to 'propagate'. I've never tried it, but it can be done. it's more complicated than just cutting off a branch, and planting it, though. I have listed a couple of sites below which suggest that it is indeed possible, and they have instructions as to how to go about it.

As i know first u should cut a branch and then put it in water after the roots grow you can put it in soil.this is one of the propagate ways.

With a fig cutting you need to take the cutting and put in the refridgerator for 2 weeks to make it go dormant...This simulates it going through a winter..this is when you take fig cuttings or plant them..is when the cutting is in it's dormant stage..here it tells you to take cuttings from figs in late february which means it just came out of winter...As I said you can "fool" them by taking the leaves off and putting in the fridge 2 weeks..

u cant give her a branch but you can give her a seed or something.

you can do that.

they are calles cuttings and are very common in making new plants.

all you have to do is go to the joint of a branch and cut a woody stick off it. when cutting use a very sharp knife and cut horizontally.

now you have to wait. hibiscus take about 1 year or about 8 months to make roots and not all will make roots.

figs work similaly. ty to put a root hormone powder on the plant and some people use moss and wrap the moss around the tip of the plant.

you can also put the water in a vase  and put the cuttings in the vase with the water.  wait a FEW MONTHS AND you should get roots
