My friend wants start doing ballet?

LA is a very big city my friend... There are probably hundreds of dance studios. My advice would be to try and find a good studio near where she lives or maybe one where a friend also goes, that way she will have a little bit of info about it. Search the internet or phone books! You never know where or what you will find!

There are quite a few dance complex's or studios in LA that are not geared for beginners or the younger demographic, they serve more for professional dancers to take class and what not.

just tell her to stay away from those so she's not intimidated. examples are: Millenium Dance Complex, and The Edge

a great ballet studio she could check out is:

it's ballet based but has other styles and a great disciplined learning environment. they have extensive classes and tons of info on the website

also just look in the yellow pages and call a few studios and ask them what their average age of students are, if they have beginning classes etc. you'll get a good or bad vibe from them just by talking on the phone.

Most studios allow you to take a trial class before signing up.
