My friend has wanted to commit suicide for the past couple of years, and has never fully made up her mind about it. She has had a terrible past that makes her believe she doesn't deserve life herself, and she's been cutting herself for the past five years to punish herself. She has gone to a camp that helps, but when she got out she's still been cutting, and thinking about suicide. I want to help so badly, and help her enjoy life, but i have no clue of how to help her change her mind about cutting/suicide.

  1. Make sweet love to her.  But make sure she's put all her blades and stuff away first.  You don't want a chunk of your trouser trout taken off !

  2. She has to acknowledge what she is feeling inside and seek real help  where she wants to live, and really wants to get well.  Until she acknowledges that she will just keep playing around in a half-**** way with all of these support systems.

  3. If she says she has nothing to live for, then you are not her friend. ask her live for you, i,e, her cute friend

  4. Cutting is a compulsion, and it's not something you can just "talk someone out of".  Typically, it's a means of controlling uncontrolable circumstances.  While I honestly think that people who express themselves in the way your friend does are less likely to actually commit suicide, they are more likely to attempt severe self-harm, which is something to be concerned about.  Your friend needs professional help, to deal with these issues before it becomes something more serious.  But realize that it's ultimately your friend's decision, and even the cutting is a choice she is making, and you are not responsible for what happens because of poor choices she makes.  Your obligation is to be a support and point her in the right direction, nothing more than that.

  5. Tell her two things.

    1) Just because you would have preferred death in the past, or death right now, in the future you will likely be very thankful you decided to live.(I mean even if my life sucked I would still be way too curious about the future to just stop living)

    2) Suicide is the most selfish act one could possibly do. Everyone you know will be terribly hurt for months, and still be affected for years. The pain you feel now will go to each of your friends and family. If you don't want to feel that, why would you want them to?

  6. this hurts me so much to read. it's so upsetting. Let her know that she has EVERYTHING to live for! god gave her a life for a reason. all she needs to do is pray to him and she will be reborn, she needs a nice boost in self-confidence. Take her out, give her a nice day!

  7. I dont know its tough. To be agood friend dont tell her she has a terrible past. Make sure that you are encouraging and point out some of the positives in her life.

  8. tell her shes alive
