So, my friend is 5'1 and she weighs 152 pounds. She is always complaining about her weight and trying to diet. She said that dieting isn't getting her any where. So, she wants to try something new. She wants to starve herself every other day and work out every day for at least a half hour. I tried to talk her out of it a million times, but she isn't listening to me at all. She said that she wants to loose about 20-25 pounds. So, if she does what she said that she is going to do, how long will it take her to loose those 25 pounds? It worries me, but for some reason, I cannot change her mind. How healthy is it and will it work and make her thin like she finally wants. Please, only serious answers...i am very upset.

  1. That is something extremely hard to do and trust me i dont think it will do any good for her, but she will figure out her body and mind will eventuually need food. There is just no way. My height and weight is around the same as your friend. My body is just built that way. I have tried many times dieting, but starving is definetly not a way to lose weight.

The best way to lose weight is to stop drinking soda, quit fast food, drink more water and exercise 3 times a week. I hope your friend starts seeing things clearly after her first attempt of doing this.

  2. trying to loose weight by starving yourself of your needed nutrients can backfire and you can end up gaining more fat then if you eat a healthy diet

the reason is your body goes into starvation mode and turns everything you eat into fat

  3. it's counter productive and only slows the metabolic rate more.  this time next year she'll be weighing 165 lbs.  people that starve themselves can lose as much muscle as they do fat, this slows the metabolic rate.  so when the return to normal eating habits it's much easier to gain all of the weight back and then some.  it's the typical cycle that people follow with fad diets and starvation diets.  after years and years of dieting like that they weigh more than when they started out.  when done properly weight should only be lost once.

  4. No matter how you slice it, diet is a dirty word. It smacks of deprivation and hunger pangs. To overcome the pain, you need a plan.
