My friend was talking about a bug and i wanted to know what it's called?

My friend said there is this bug or insect that lives in the dirt and he called in ninos del tirra.He said it crys like a baby when you take them out of the dirt.He said it's found in mexico.

It's a Jerusalem cricket!  They may squeak a bit (I have never heard one make any noise at all), but they don't really cry like a baby--the Spanish name is due to their almost-human looking head.  "Children of the earth."  Here are a bunch of sites about them:
