Does she need to sign a waiver and what should it say? or what should she do to protect herself?

  1. This sounds like a very small promoter just starting out maybe?  I'd say be very careful about this whole thing.  I could see a nurse for just a single team, but for an entire event?  hhmmm..... I can only hope that this promoter will have "Paramedics" on hand which is what is the statis quo among most promoters.  If she's going to be the only there I would call around and explain the situation to a few insurance companies so that she can ease some of the "liable" involved should some thing go horribly wrong.  In the same token though I don't know if I'd even allow her to do it man.  Usually good promoter's will have their own "Event Physican" on hand at such an event as well EMT services.  eeww....... this one's a hard call, but my better judgement says to keep her from doing it.

My wife is a nurse and I have a MMA team that fights in MMA events she is our team "Doctor" so to speak taking care of simple little cuts and what not, applying ice to lumps and such, but for a serious injury we'd have to rely on the promoter's own EMT services dude.  I just wouldn't allow it personally.  A nurse may make a good cornerman, but a "Event Physician"? .....uhg!!

  2. the organiser of the tournament should have all that organised and if she is a nurse it should be fine anyway. im pretty sure as long as you have a current first aid certificate  anyone can do first aid.
