Shes talking about her 'problems'. Alright they are not that even that big of problems. She just worried about her grades and finding a right career. i am fine with helping her with this and talking to her. But she talks about constantly , every conversation leads to this. I am so annoyed of hearing about this !

How can i tell her to shut up without hurting her ?

  1. If it's in person, get up and leave; if it's on the phone say you have to go and hang up. If you keep leaving/hanging up when she launches into this over and over again, eventually she'll get the message and if she doesn't, tell her you cannot talk about this any more. enough already.

  2. Just tell her to calm down.

  3. just try to let her know that you are there for her when she needs it but you think she needs to settle down a bit about her future...of course she should keep thinking about it but not worry so much about it...just like tell her that you would love to help her look online and stuff about the career of her choice and stuff but tell her you think ya'll need to spend a little less time thinking about that stuff and just enjoy being young

  4. Start the conversation by saying you two are not going to talk to her about that today. Declare a timeout for those rehashed subjects and when she starts to stray, laugh and go 'huh huh..remember timeout'. Have other things to talk about or do but be firm without getting angry when she strays. If this doesn't work...avoid her.

  5. just talk to her seriously

  6. You have to talk to her.  She's going to become ineffective in her pursuit of good grades and a career if she spends all her mental effort and energy stressing on things she only has partial control over.  What if she gets sick, what if the price of college doubles, what if the best career is only for men. Blah, Blah, Blah.  There's no end to things you can worry about.  All she can do is deal with those things she can influence.  Good Luck.

  7. Act uninterested in what she has to say. Or better yet, don't resond and act like you don't hear her.

  8. tell her you dont know what to do

  9. hmm well it depends if shes a senoir its normal for her to want your advice

but if shes younger then just be like

"ok you have a lot of time to think about lets just talk about something else"
