I am trying to find the correct size helicoil kit to repair the threads in the spindle. When I bring in the caliper bolt to the parts stores, the employees are having a hard time finding out the correct bolt size. The best answer I have got so far is that it is a 9mm. Has anyone ran across this before and know the correct size helicoil kit? Thanks.

  1. Your best bet is to get the bolt from Ford, but I'd forget the auto part stores and look at specialty companies that deal in bolts for the kit as it's a weird size

  2. how in the world did you strip them out.... when the bolt is not much more than hand tight to start with.... and you cant find a bolt is not right any aprts store shoul dhave the right one what you need to do is lquild steel in the hole or weld it and redrill or replace the whole thing.. but in new bolt and dont over tighten it again... shouldnt be hard to find a new bolt for any car and finding a new one will get you the right size

  3. Forget the bolt size for a moment. Brake and suspension bolts are without exception, grade 8 bolts. That is aircraft quaility and is required by the Dept. of Transportation. Metric equivalent is grade 10.9... Helicoil is an unsafe fix. JB Weld is an unsafe fix. Neither of those fixes will withstand the test of time and may get someone hurt or killed. Get another knuckle, used or otherwise.

  4. tkae it to the dealer they have diagrams with ictures and it will tell you what size you need
