  1. I would check with the Vet before putting ANYTHING on MOM cat since she is nursing. I just rescued a kitten two weeks ago myself he was only two weeks old at that time. I also had a flea problem the best thing you can do is BATH the KITTENS in DAWN DISH SOAP nothing else it has to be the name brand dawn it kills fleas on contact. This is the olny thing I found that worked. After you bath them use your flea comb. I would do this a couple times within a few days. Make sure you blow dry the kittens after the bath as they need to stay warm. GOOD LUCK :)

  2. get medicine from a vet or pet store.

  3. Give them a bath using flea killer shampoo. Kittens are easier to bath.It may take three or four baths before you see a difference. If the fleas are so many that one bath won't do,keep on doing it. Make sure yo stay away from the eyes. Always get under their legs, fleas like to hide.

  4. i've been using baby shampoo and it seems to be working.. i also have been spraying a flea home spray but letting it fully dry before putting them on it.. they were infested with fleas and now i've only been seeing a couple fleas here and there...

  5. DO NOT TREAT THE MOM if you put flea meds on her and dont rinse them off all the way the kittens well eat that and get sick and die all you can do is comb them if it doesnt work you could always just put them in the bathroom the fleas wont have anything to cling on but the cats but if i was her i would put the mom in a cozy box with food until she can take them to a shelter

  6. for now get the momma and babies in the garage at least, tomorrow morning go the the vets and tell them you need CapStar, this is a tiny tiny pill that can be given to cats and kittens from 0 to 12 pounds, it kills the fleas with in 30 minutes guaranteed!!!!  leaving them covered with fleas can cause anemia, and death, be sure to treat the momma as well, Dont use any over the counter flea stuff on the kittens or frontline either they are way to tiny to handle it,

  7. the sell flea shampoo at the local pet shops plus they have flea collars,,, any pet shop has them..

  8. if she brings them to the vet there is a very inexpensive pill they can give cats or kittens that kills all fleas in 30 minutes. afterwords you have to use revolution. Revolution works better for cats while frontline works a lot better on dogs!!!  Tell her to stay away from any bio spot products!!!

  9. tell them to buy flea collar then u have to give them a good bath with a flea shampoo and let them in doors u take them out they gonna keep on getting fleas

  10. I haven't got any on hand, but on the flee medication it should have recommendations for what age is old enough to treat. You don't want to treat them too young so bringing them in should maybe wait a couple of weeks until they ARE old enough to treat. When in doubt, I always call my vet for advice and any vet should be happy to help her out with this too.

  11. You'll need to take the kittens and cat to a vet for flea dips (the kittens may be too young - ask the vet).  And follow up 10-14 days later with another one to kill any eggs that may hatch.  Follow this up with Advantage for the momma, and whatever the vet suggests for the kittens.  There is a pill the vet can give momma, and it may pass through the milk the kittens are getting from her and work on them as well, but this would be up to a vet to decide.  Do not treat momma for fleas until you talk to the vet - the treatment may cause the kittens harm.

  12. Tell your friend to go to her vets and get the drops for the back of Momma cats neck - check with them but I believe, from memory, that this also treats the kittens at first.

When the kittens are weaned and ready to leave their Momma (not yet as Momma may stop feeding) they can be washed which will help remove any remaining wildlife - we always wash new kittens when we bring them home nowadays as most are absolutely crawling..  Take the clean but soggy moggy into the sunlight and you will see the fleas crawling onto his head - be ready to squash!!

It is advisable to continue a course of flea treatment and also to treat the house - products from a good vet are best.

    Good Luck to your friend

  13. With kittens that young, a flea comb is about all you can use.  Dip the comb in alcohol after each stroke (and dry it off) to kill the fleas you get off.

  14. Make sure whatever you use on mom is ok for nursing cats - it will say if it's ok in the instructions.  I know Revolution is fine, we used that on my girl.  That's a good one because it will treat mom for ear mites too, among other pests.  The vet can sell it to you.  Frontline and those are good too but I haven't used them on a nursing cat so I don't know if they're ok.

Don't wash any of them right now.  The kittens' vision is still developing and they mostly know mommy by scent and if they start smelling totally different it's possible that she'll reject them -- plus they are entirely too young for a bath.  Go with the flea comb as an option for them.

    good luck!
