ok so my friend just got 4 budgies, 2 girls 2 boys. How should i make the birds feel comfortable so that can stand on my finger and feel safe around me. The problem is, i cant take the birds out of the cage, because their feathers have not been cut yet so if i do take them out they will fly away. The 0only way that i can feed them etc is buy sticking my hand through a small door in the cage.

The birds are really scared when i even go close to their cage. I really like animals so any suggestions for what i should do will be great!

Ty to anyone who answer =)

Thx

  1. ive had up to 30 budgies i tried breeding them but it didn't work because only one of the fifteen pairs laid eggs but they werent fertile but you can give it treats like alfalfa which is a vegetable and try holding it in the cage or stick out your finger in the cage and eventually some will fly on it and stay there standing

  2. I am guessing you mean that you are taking care of them for your friend? You won't have them long enough probably to tame them down to you. Being tame means that they trust you. To start this process you move very slowly around the bird. In a even monotone voice tell the birds what you are doing when around the cage. Talk to them constantly in this even voice and it will make them comfortable with you. Since there are four birds they are not going to be to close with any human. You will just have to move real slow and be careful that they don't fly out the door. They can fly into a wall or mirror and break their neck.  They might fly around in the cage but that just has to happen. Get you food and water read so you can get in and get out quick.

  4. If they're that scared, it means they aren't hand-tamed. It will take time for them to learn to trust people, and of course, they won't sit on your finger unless they trust you.

Being new to your friend's home, they also need to be left alone for 4-7 days so they can get used to their environment--trying to interact with them now will only make them more anxious and more afraid of people.
