  1. they don't need an air pump but they should have one.they don't need an air pump because they have a labyrinth which means that they can breath air.

  2. yes they do or they will have to change the water twice a week and 5.5 gallons is enough depending on they type of goldfish! please do  find out and tell them that!

  3. nopeeee(:

  4. goldfish are one of the few species of fish that can survive without an air supply in the water.

  5. A single goldfish should be in a tank no small then 20 gallons, depending on the goldfish, there are many others that need 30 gallons and ten 10 more for each goldfish.  they need a bigger tank.

and take note,  the first guy said he had and they were...those are past tense...a goldfish in proper care should live 15-30 years. Years!  But they should have an air pump and filtration system.

  6. They need a bigger tank.  Like 30 gallons or so.  Unless they're planning on getting rid of them when they get too big for the 5.5 gallon tank.

But yes.  They should have both a filter and air pump regardless of the tank size.

  7. UMM...YEAH.

Goldfish are opportunic eaters and therefore they put out a lot of waste.

    You need a filter.

OK so goldfish also grow to be up to 2 feet long.  Even the small little common goldfish.  And they grow fast.  So a bigger tank is needed.

Get a 55 to 100 Gallon tank with a great cannister filter system complimented with an undergravel filter system and your fish will be fine and live long.

Most goldfish in bowls or small tanks...die within a couple of months.

People are not told about the growth of these fish and their needs.

Goldfish are best in small to medium sized ponds.  But with a huge aquarium...you will be ok.

  8. They should have a bigger tank. If they're both Fancy Goldfish, no less than 30 gallons with a filter. If they're both Common Goldfish, no less than 75 gallons with a canister filter.

They don't necessarily need air pumps, but if you want to provide a little extra oxygen, then you can give them one.
