My friends has mono. How long does it take to feel the affects of it from the day you receive the virus.?

I got mono in december. I think in about a week is when i started noticing it. My throat was really sore and had white in the back of my throat... then i went to the dr and got a test and turns out i had mono, i caught it soon though so i didnt get it too bad.
