My friends(5) agreed on the road trip this summer but we don't know where to go?

From New York to .... and somehow we can't find out where to go. I've been to Virginia Beach and it was phenomenal. But, I want a place that everyone would enjoy. They are funny, out going and a good group and we sometimes don't mind the small things. And the money is an obstacle. Should we break the money within each other or have each one have something to pay for. ex, one covers the hotel, the other the gas..etc.

This will be my first road trip without my family so any tips would be wonderful.

Panama City Beach, FL is nice.  The beaches are beautiful and there's a lot to do...jet skis, fishing, mini golf, scuba, a water park, shopping (Pier Park is a brand new outdoor mall), swimming, boogie boards, boating, golf, tanning...

I think gas and lodging would be your biggest expenses.  It's no fun to have a hotel bill at the end and suddenly someone doesn't have their share.  (Not good for your friendships either.)  I would recommend that you make sure everyone puts their money in up front for gas and lodging and one trustworthy person can pool it and pay (or bank it and use their credit or debit card).  Pretty much anything else everyone could pay on their own.

For inexpensive lodging, look for a hotel or condo off the beach.  It will be less than one right on it.
