I have purchased a 6 month old colt,im picking him up september. When i first went to see him he was a dark dark brown, not black. His sire is tsjabring approved stallion. His mum and dad are jet black, yet he is sooo brown now. It doesnt even look the same colt. (I no it is tho!) Help someone...i have already handed over £800 deposit. I have owned horses, but not this breed, its general advice from a friesian expert i am after...i have researched and have seen many brown foals that do turn black...oh man im confused, unsure, and need to no if the dealer could fraud the papers etc. I have seen his pedigree. This poor foal has never lived in a stable though,so could be bleaching...but im not happy at all. If you can help me out with this,i would be very greatful, just look at tsjabring,he is deep black. I no they can have a chestnut jene,i have bought a wonder stone to groom him,and take off excess fur,but im not entirely sure how affective this will be....please help.

  1. Friesians should definitely be black, but remember that all horses can change color when growing.

He is most likely sun bleeched, which is very hard to reverse.  Ask the dealer about it.

If he's getting lighter, then he's going in the wrong direction...

    good luck!

  2. Well if he is only 6 months old he probly still has his baby fur. Im sure by the time he turns one he will be almost all black, if not then he might be a cross.
