Question:

My front tooth hurts, please help quickly?!

I wear braces and a couple of days ago I noticed this pain in my left front tooth (right to people looking at me) It only really hurts when I press down on the brace bracket. I haven't had them tightened recently so it cant be that, but some other teeth on the right hand side of my mouth hurt as well. Could it be because of a secondary molar or is it gum/tooth disease, or possible enamel erosion. I'm really scared that i will have to lose that tooth, I'm only 15 and I don't drink full sugar coca cola or even diet every day, not even weekly! I don't eat that much chocolate either. Please help

Thank you

  1. When you get braces certain teeth hurt. That's probably just a sensitive tooth! I have one too.

  2. Your tooth enamel is okay.In case of enamel erosion the tooth hurts only when you take something very hot or cold.If your brace bracket is in place and a few of your teeth are hurting as well, then you need an antibiotic like Doxycyclline 100mg.twice a day for two days followed by once a day for another three days.It will set your teeth right. It is adviseable to consult your doctor at the same time.

  3. hey , dont panic , if its tooth erosion or attrition as we call in dentistry u will have marked sensitivity to cold , or even sweet sometimes , d pain that u have is cosve changes that are produced in the hard and soft tissue around the tooth due to orthodontic treatment (braces) which is temporary ( reversible pulpitis) , make sure u maintain good oral hygiene , do warm saline gargles once a day and if needed take a brufen , unless u see evident black area (cavity) there is nothing to worry about , show it ur dentist in d next appointment cos a visual examination is necessary

  4. go see a dentist
