I've tried cleaning the coils on the back, maybe I need to do it better... It frosts up and cuts off the fridge about every 2 months.

  1. I had this happen before on a fridge. Check the door seals. When mine went bad the lower seal was letting air and humidity in the freezer. You can buy some new seals pretty cheap at the store, maybe $10.

  2. Heating cycle is not working and may need a part to fix.

  3. Bad door gaskets, bad defrost timer,or stuck contacts in bad thermostat.

    Check em all.

  4. Dirty condenser coils are not the problem.  It's most likely the defrost timer or defrost heater.  The heater should come on about 3 times per day to melt the ice on the evaporator coils.  If the defrost timer is not turning on the heater or the heater is burnt out, the coils will freeze up.
