My garage door does not open help plz

Question

My garage door does not open.it just makes this sound,it dose not work with the remotes or from the inside. How do I fix it myself

buy a new house with a garage and this time make sure the door works by remote..

It sounds like the motor in your opener is gone.  The only way to repair it is to take the entire thing down and take it apart, and see what kind of motor it has.  Then you have to find someone who sells that motor.  It's usually cheaper to just buy a new opener.  You should have a pull string near your door.  If you pull this, you should be able to open it by hand.  If you can't, then you need to get a professional in.

Better put some oil on the door's rusty hinges so that the sound will disappear and the door will start to open up in a slow manner.

It sounds like it may be off the chain.  There should be a cord that hangs around the garge door.  If you pull this cord the garage door will release from the chain.  Now you should be able to open and close the door manually.  

Open the door all the way and reconnect it to the chain.

it sounds like gear or trolley is bad . if it is Chamberlain product its the gear. if it is a genie product its the trolley. ( make sure the operator is engaged ! and the springs are in tact ! )

Check the opener, if the motor shaft turns, but not the wheel, the gear inside the opener needs to be replaced.

If nothing turns, check the settings on "UP" and "Down" force limits.

Sometimes it helps to disconnect the chain, run the opener and connect it again.

No, No NO!

FIRST check to see if the lifting spring(s) are still intact.

You either have 2 coil spinrs (one on each side aalong the top tracks) or a set of heavy springs that go around the axel just above the door. If either are broken the dood gets jammed in the door frame.

Replae the spings (both) even if only one is broken.

All that c**p about the motor etc is NEXT after check the springs.
