My garage remote opener doesn't work!? help!?

One of my garage remote openers was forgotten in my sister's car last and been away from the house for a year. I just got it back and it doesn't want to work. I tried to replace the battery but it still doesn't work. Any ideas?

Has the garage door opener been reprogrammed to eliminate that remote?  You might have to add it back to the opener.  See your garage door opener booklet.
