My gas grill is not generating enough fire

Question

Hi,

I have a CharBroil gas grill that is not that old. Suddenly it stopped generating strong fire. It fires up but it is very weak. The tank is open all the way and the k**b is open all the way also. Not sure what to do to fix it. Please help.

If cleaning the burners to get rid of grease or charcoal doesn't do the trick check the air verturi tubes under the burner.  Oftentimes spiders or other insects will nest in the tube and will cut off the gas supply.

Two things can contribute to this.  The first and probably the cause is several of the holes in the burner are clogged or nearly clogged from grease that drips on it while cooking.  When the grill is cool, take a toothpick and poke it into all of the holes in the burners to open up the holes again.  It may also help to use a wire brush to clean away burned on debris around the burner.    

The second and probably least likely is there may be a leak in one of the lines or fitting connections.  Turn on the gas and ignite the burner.  Take a spray bottle filled with a soap/water solution and spray the gas line and fittings.  If there is a leak, you will see bubbles where the gas is leaking from.

Try removing the gas line from the tank and then after inspecting it to make sure nothing in stuck in there replace it.  Mine did the same thing and the only problem was that the line was not completely screwed onto the tank.

My BBQ grill does that all the time.  I just use a wire brush to clean the burners just before I start to BBQ.  Then they work just fine.  It is caused by the grease that has dropped onto the burners.  

Try it.  Just might work.

the valve is probably choked up..just remove it and scrub the inside of it with petrol or degreaser...

Could be there is a lot of grease on the burners.  Especially if you have done a lot of hamburgs.
