I just got a new scooter, and I put the front wheel on, I noticed this line running into the axle. Do I have to lubricate this or does it lubricate automatically?

  1. sounds like a speedo cable don't lube. follow the cable from the axle up see if it goes to the speedo head.

  2. Could also be Odometer cable... or both the speedo and odo... they are separate cables though.  Generally on a scooter the odo is very very accurate and the speedo is off by 10% or so

  3. I think it is probably the speedometer drive cable. Does the line have wires in it or a little cog? If it is an electronic sensor, then no, do not grease it. If it is a mechanical speedo drive, then a dob of longlife grease on it will keep it quiet, and minimise wear.
